I haven't delved into politics lately, but this post (poem? song?) from Andy Clarke (designer, not a politician) really struck a chord with me today, and is worth reading over the Independence Day weekend.

ahh... I love those rare times in history when some social abnormality occurs and people point to it and say it's somehow reflective of all human life. Unfortunately, the normal result of public use land isn't poor people maintaining it but rather everyone destroying it...
