Lake George

I'm still in New York, after staying in State College, Pennsylvania and New York, New York, we are in the fun tourist town of Lake George. Lots of mini golf, ice cream stands, and t-shirt stands. This is where Steve (my cousin) Andrea were married today. Great wedding, decent driving, and now a little hotel with one bar of cell phone (and internet) service.

Its been a great trip, but I have done less work than I would like, mostly due to tiredness and lack of internet service.

Its a little weird being out of touch of news and everything, and I look forward to not driving for a while - but that's a way off.

Why politicians don't get it

On CNN, DNC Chairman, Gov. Bill Richardson said something along the lines of "we are looking for an electorate that will support us..." but what Richardson doesn't understand is that the American people aren't looking for a group to support, they are looking for someone who will support them.

The electorate will find the politician, not the other way around. This is what a representative government is for - to express the views of the people.

If you stop trying to tell me what I believe and instead listen to what I believe, you will get my vote.

Traci E. Carpenter from MSU articulates this well.

The Westin

I post tonight from The Westin Hotel in Southfield, MI, home of the "Heavenly Bed".

Katie Budris and I are embarking on a crazy adventure to Pennsylvania, NYC, and upstate New York. We are visiting friends and family, hitting up a wedding, and having a ton of fun. The Westin stop was unexpected, but wonderful (and free!!!).

I am trying to work while on the road, but am finding problems motivating myself. I am working on the Hope College Orientation website, but progress is slow today. Big jobs loom ahead, so I don't really want to start anything. I am very content watching who has logged in today, and making sure everything is working ok. I made tea to keep me awake a little longer, but all I've done is create this. Things could be worse.

Once again I missed most of the DNC speeches tonight, but I read Howard Dean's and am now watching CNN. Its like actually watching the speeches, only stupider. As I begin my journey (both driving, and blogging), I am thinking about the role of progressives and 3rd parties in America. The recent debate between Dean and Nader has made me think. Check it out if you can!

Off to bed soon, and hitting the road after breakfast!

Welcome to my blog! After convincing many friends to begin blogging, I have given in and decided to include my thoughts.

This site has no agenda or underlying theme. I anticipate and hope that it will evolve into something I cannot comprehend at this time.
